I'm heading down to the Gulf Coast tomorrow for a few day to visit relatives and to interview Bruce Angus McNaughton for my book project. Those of you who know Bam-Bam should feel free to suggest questions for the interview, although I'll be lucky to get a question in edge-wise.
FYI, it is forecast to be 78 - 80 and sunny in Ft. Myers and Naples this week.
Also, I'm still laughing over a line from Gail Collins last week where she compared the Republican budget cuts proposal to a someone who is 50 lbs over weight deciding to cut down on their intake of kale.

OK, I'll bite. What book project?
It's long story previously reported, but I'll do an update soon.
Bring a lot of Coke.
I Googled the name and The Daily Blank came up number one.
Dennis,
Thanks for rubbing it in about the weather. Ohio is just now enjoying its first temperatures above the freezing mark in about six weeks.
Enjoy your trip, we are envious up here!
Just got back from long weekend a little up the coast from there in Sarasota and St. Pete. Weather never topped 65 degrees, but incredibly restorative. Lots of grilled grouper and rum. Oh, yeah, and the Grammys. I liked Eminem better when he was funny instead of just pissed off.
And speaking of Eminem (and your recent comments on the super bowl ads), was that Chrysler ad on the Super Bowl the lamest thing ever? Asking "What could a city like Detroit know about luxury?" is not a good question to raise -- you'd never pose it to yourself, but when you think about it the obvious answer is not much...especially when Eminem is your pitchman, a guy who doesn't even wear gold chains, for chrrissake.
@ Mikey: Well there is a group of people for whom the Detroit version of luxury is both known and appreciated. It may be a smaller and older group than the one your are thinking of, but we like it.
Well said, d'blank! As one who spent many years living, working, and raising kids in Detroit's Rosedale Park, I wouldn't say I'm totally unfamiliar with luxury...hope Mikey's not basing his opinion solely on press reports. I've lived in a number of big cities, and Detroit's one of my favorites!
Well no disrespect intended to Detroit or to any of the big 3's luxury cars, my point being only that most Americans, fairly or not, hear the name Detroit and think "urban wasteland" not "lap of luxury", so if you raise that question during the Super Bowl, you'd better have a convincing answer up your sleeve, and Eminem in an old theater with a gospel choir sure wasn't too convincing.
@ Mikey -- Chrysler has such a low mkt share now I don't see the downside of reaching 104 mm ppl with this but reasonable ppl will disagree. there is an interesting AdAge article on the concept behind the ad:
