The New Dream Team: Spitzer-Ferraro

Jeez, I leave for a week and all hell breaks loose. Surely Elliot and Geraldine (sounds like a really bad early ‘70s movie trying to ride the coattails of “Harold and Maude”) will now team up for an independent party run for the White House.

If it is possible to understand what made him do it, I think David Brooks may have nailed it today. I, being no David Brooks, will just say that surely this is the final proof that a Harvard degree does not mean you are smart.

As for Gerry, I’m going to think about what I want to say for a bit before committing it to the permanence of text lest I make the same error she did.

Finally, we had a great time in Spain. Does anyone want to hear about how Bill Murray bought us a bottle of wine and an after dinner drink in Sevilla?

I thought Brooks had it nailed pretty well as well. I've seen some of these guys lubed up pretty good at events and, indeed, they act with the grace and aplomb of middle school boys with half a quart of Boones Farm in them. Not a pretty sight but amusing nonetheless.

I'm all ears regarding Bill Murray.

You need to have a Ferraro-Spitzer ticket to defeat the old white guy. Gerry should be on the top of the ticket.

What a well written piece by DB. I suppose we are going to have to go to the Post to find out who clients 1-8 were...

This example and explanation confirms that we are led by doofuses: one big happy dysfunctional family. The only real change of leaders will be their diapers.

Obsessive compulsive people tend to live very cautious lives punctuated but activities of great risk.

On a more personal note. I am glad I never had the aptitude or drive to reach for the stars and turn out a class A jerk.

Why am I always surprised when someone like Spitzer falls on his face? Another example of the personal hypocrisy of our elected officials. Maybe we should just elect the candidates with the worst personal behavior and then our expectations will be much lower and our disappointment less. What is it about Spitzer, et al that makes them think they would be good leaders? Can you imagine the campaign strategy sessions when they discuss how they are going to fool the public? On another level, the fact that Bill and Hillary's tax dollars helped finance Spitzer's shenanigans seems amusing to me. Maybe a Craig/Spitzer ticket is in the works, it would appeal to a broad cross section of the American public.

But in which rest room would the Craig-Spitzer team caucus?

And how "wide" would the appeal be. They would seem to be covering many, if not all, the bases.
