Last night I burned eight music CDs. Each pair of two was wrapped in an identical piece of cardboard and placed inside one of four identical envelops. I used the same Sharpie to address each. This morning I took them to the post office to be mailed. The clerk weighed each envelope separately while calculating the correct postage. Two envelopes weighed about 20% less than the other two. Do you think it was because they had fewer songs burned onto the CDs? I’ll leave you to ponder this and other mysteries for the next week, as I am heading out to Myrtle Beach in the morning for five days of golf, poker, cocktails and stories with some pals from my college daze. I also have the new Jack Reacher paperback with me in case I finally get tired of hearing the same stories we tell every year. Fortunately the stories are different every year due to diminished memories and shifting agendas. (Or is it agendi?)

Dennis Earl. C'mon music weighs? Better call myth busters. I think due to your northern accent they thought you said bong water when you really said branch water.Or it just could be inefficient US postal service, or you could be worried about spending a buck because you are on a fixed income. Be safe. lots of scams that seniors get taken for especially since you keeping breaking out new hats from the Earl P.Blank collection.

Fenway -- I'm more than a little surprised that you consider MB to be the Redneck Riviera. Although it certainly qualifies (what else would call a beach town where the t-shirt shops have toddler rompers with "I heart bitches" on them -- stay classy MB). However, I always thought that Panama City Florida was the official Redneck Riviera. I have confirmed this with my brother-in-law from Spartanburg, SC and KGWHIT (a proud son of Chattanooga, TN).
At any rate, I'll try to keep D'Blank safe and we'll make sure he has plenty of horizontally folded one-dollar bills. I'm looking forward to yet another dignified event in the Palmetto State.

Fenway, I am basing my knowledge of Panama City on my cousin, Jim, from Chattanooga.
When I was in Pawleys Island with Jim in 2008, he commented after a trip to MB that it was pretty tasteless but nothing compared to the Redneck Riviera.
But the ultimate authority is the web and when you type in Redneck Riviera the Florida panhandle pops up, not MB.
Although there is something about a skinny unshaven man with a pinch in his lip and his NASCAR hat jauntily affixed atop his balding pate sashaying with his adorable 250lbs wife in a bathing suit through Barefoot landing that says the Hamptons to me.
