America’s biggest hypocrite

Jesse Jackson is a man of so many facets one hardly knows where to begin describing him. Liar. Extortionist. Philanderer. Egomaniac. Thief.

The man who called New York “Hymietown” in 1984, and who in September told a South Carolina newspaper that Barack Obama was "acting like he's white," yesterday said on a open mike, in a Fox News studio no less (you can’t make this stuff up), that Senator Obama was “talking down to black people” and that he (Jesse) would like to “cut his nuts off.”

Jesse feels that Obama, by saying in a speech he gave in a church recently, that more black fathers need to be present in their family, was being condescending to black people. Some people might see this as Obama taking a responsible stand on an important social issue, and one that has deep personal meaning to the candidate since he was raised in a fatherless home.

Unfortunately, Jesse isn’t in this fight to do what’s right. He’s unhappy that he’s no longer America’s favorite black politician, and he even unhappier that Obama doesn’t seek his blessing before speaking his mind.

It hasn’t been a full day yet, but one has to wonder if the ever politically correct media will mention any of the following:

  • That 23% of non-Hispanic white children live in single parent homes, but 65% of African-American children are similarly situated.

  • If using castration and lynching metaphors are off-limits to white people why is Jesse getting a pass on the racially insensitive nature of his remark?

  • If someone had performed this procedure on the Reverend 30 years ago, he wouldn’t have had his out-of-wedlock daughter, to whom he provided a fatherless upbringing.

Where have I been that I was unaware of this! Jesse Jackson, who I liked some decades ago, is as narcissistic and ego-driven as, well, Alex Rodriguez. Unbelievable and goes back to d'blank's previous post: "who, and where, in the world are those democrats"! Three months ago who woulda thought they could screw this up!

well said George.

I was wondering when Jesse would get around to one-upping Sharpton's comment on Obama about "not being black enough!" He's a mega jerk and doesn't deserve the air time he's getting.

You have to feel sympathy for both these candidates who have to spend more time either defending or distancing themselves from members of their own party.

Right now, McCain is wasting his time condemning Phil Gramm's moronic comments about Americans reaction to the economy.

This does nothing but help Obama. The more he can distance himself from the crackpots in the Democratic coalition, the more comfortable the middle will be him.

The fact that Phil Gramm believes we're a country of whiners doesn't hurt either. McCain is quickly running out of advisors to repudiate.

As someone who was stiffed by the fine Reverend for a couple of hundred grand. I cannot comment without sounding bitter.

He is a self promoting egotistical a-hole, now I will say something bad about him...never mind.

kgwhit, please explain. I am all ears.

And, as a genuine hymie from Hymietown, I have 2 middle fingers to poke at the rotten reverend. A dedicated non-believer myself, I have deep respect for genuine believers but nothing but scorn for hypocrites of all stripes. Oh to put Carl Rove, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and Dick Cheney in a tag team wrestling match. Surely it wouldn't undo their nonsense but it would be great to watch with a vodka on the rocks sitting on a Barcalounger. These guys make such fine bad examples...

My firm does fundraising. A good friend, who we had worked with in the past, had gone to work for the Rainbow Coalition/PUSH. Her word we trusted so we worked for them. Our campaigns for them were successful and it went on pretty well. They were making money and paying their bills. Then they started getting late with payments and we couldn't get our calls returned by the accounting department.

We ceased doing fundraising and had a meeting with Jesse. We were thanked for our efforts but were told that neither he nor the organization had the money to pay. The person who we had a relationship with was fired and didn't get paid.

A quote from the esteemed former mayor of DC, Marion Barry, says it best. When asked if he was worried that Jesse might want to run for mayor in DC, his crackship replied, "hell the only thing Jesse wants to run is his mouth."

One of the two great lines in American politics uttered by such a high official, the other of course is "the bitch set me up."

Very interesting. It seems we've at least found someone we can all dislike. Very interesting story KG (I assume it was your follow-up). I'm curious -- did Jesse have a smile on his face as he told you to bugger off?

No, actually he said that he didn't have the money because he needed to go to South Africa with Desmond Tutu, but he hoped to have it eventually.

You need $189K to go to South Africa in the mid 90's?

He did thank us for all we had done. He suggested we continue to do fundraising for him and he would pay us from the proceeds.

I may be a fool...I did spend four years in the Marines...but even I wasn't that big a fool. So, we passed on the privilege.

Sadly, he is far from the first or last politician who stiffed us over the years. It is an art form they teach them when they serve in Congress. How to screw over your friends.
