The d’blank poll and more miscellany

With just two weeks to go I am curious to know how everyone is handicapping the race. Cowboy-up and give us your predictions. The most accurate prediction of the final Electoral College vote, stated in a comment to this post, will win something of marginal value, as yet to be determined. As a reminder, there are a total of 538 votes with 270 required to win. Your predictions must be made no later than Tuesday October 21 at 11:59 PM EST. If you don’t feel like going public, just vote in the poll above my photo to the right.

Many of you wouldn’t be caught dead reading William Kristol, but his NY-Times column this morning is a very interesting look at the American psyche and well worth reading.

The picture above is called "Study in B&W." It hangs in my office and was painted by my bro Gaga, who has more for sale if you like this one. You can see them on his site. I just put it up ‘cause it looks purty.

I’m going out of town for a couple of days. Talk to you later this week.

Wm Kristol is a fine one to write this opinion on the wisdom of the common man. He is part of an elite which favors obfuscation to further hegemony. I could just see him eating his pork rinds as he keyed it out on his Dell. Contrast this with Paul Krugman's opinion in the opposite corner of the page which describes how Nixon manipulated the masses into changing sides to the GOP without the GOP changing policy.

Jill Lepore, writing in Oct 20th's New Yorker explores US presidency's historic campaign in the race for the bottom as candidates appeal to the masses. Sarah Palin dovetails nicely with this great tradition. It does seem to be about claiming birth in a log cabin and mud wrestling on the stump.

It is one thing not to be an intellectual but quite another to be an anti-intellectual, which is Sarah Palin's appeal to the "great unwashed." As if Wm Kristol associates with anyone in that sphere.

Workers of the world will unite for the proletariat cause against the bourgeoisie. I wish David Brinkley was still kicking. I think it will be GD boring my 1030pm as we crown our new prince (OBAMA).No Bradley effect just a big change to socialism.. Only a man who was prisoner in a Viet Kong Prison would fight to the bitter end. The annointed one will have his electoral and popular vote.May God have mercy on our Capitalist soul. It will be easier to live in the world of diversity where everything is OK, than for them to live in my world and be accountable. That picture is pretty high. It reminds me of a suit and tie drunk in a cheap hotel where I wear the stick on hello my name is DRUNK.

Who was it who said, give a number or a date, but never both?

Obama, because of a perfect storm, but attenuated by race.

I take umbrage at your attempt to make Kristol out as an elitist.

A few months ago he and I were on the same Acela to NYC. He sat back with the great unwashed. As he pounded his Blackberry in the row behind me and his aide took notes. He may be all of 5' 4". She was more masculine...probably was a guy in drag.

I suspect that the reason he was on the Acela is that he is afraid of flying.

Obama in a squeaker.

Where is Tim Russert when we need him?
Obama 296
Barr Zero

Rays in 6

Go Bills!

The Acela is neither the bus or the NE Corridor local.

No doubt he has been eating a more humble diet as of late...

Go Nittany Lions!

yes -- this is a Herdman original, and he is taking orders for Christmas. let me know if anyone wants to buy some very groovy art.

i'm a little surprised at the predictions. i'm not eligible to win but i think it's going to be Obama pretty big -- 300+.

and the Buckeyes!

I went to Gary's web site. There is some very interesting works. The portrait of the nun is still haunting me.Denny since you are part of THE buckeye nation,I'm shocked you didn't ask for predictions for Sat night. I definately agree with the Russert comment.I don't see any media stepping up to perform at his level.

Does the winner get an original Herdman?

Obama 319.

BTW, of those that think that McCain will still win, where is that parallel universe?

AY,
Sorry, I just realized that I stole your prediction which I assume results in my automatic disqualification.

I will now go with 301 for BHO

Obama 344; McCain 194

Those of you predicting under 300 don't get what's goin on.

DMJ -

Not to worry. I'd be happy to share the "marginal-valued gift" DB has lined up.

OK, the content is closed now. Here are the bets:
AY Obama 296
birdman Obama 318
mikeylikesit Obama 271
gaga McCain 272
jb McCain 275
rsb Obama 319
dmj Obama 301
kaz Obama 344

I think it's going to be either birdman or rsb walking away with the marginal prize.
